Australian Open tennis player fined over ‘dangerous’ act in hotel quarantine

A tennis player in hotel quarantine has been fined and threatened with a transfer to a room under police guard after breaching the Victorian government’s orders.

Over 1200 people are staying in three hotels after entering Australia on chartered flights, with four positive COVID-19 tests confining more than 60 close contacts to a hard lockdown.

Multiple people have already been caught breaching orders to stay in their room, including one player fined an undisclosed amount.
